The plant-based dog treats brand Botanical Bones boasts packaging featuring stunning four-legged-inspired illustrations. Keeping geometric forms and earth-toned textures and colors in mind, the result is tail-wagging worthy. The design is contemporary yet timeless, artistic, and not overdone, something many pet food brands have yet to emulate.

Botanical Bones is a plant-based dog treat brand that encourages pet owners to introduce human-grade adaptogens and superfoods into their canine’s diet.

Atlas Branding wanted the packaging design to celebrate happy, healthy dogs, interacting with the botanical ingredients included in the treat as part of the packaging illustration. For inspiration, they looked to the fantastic work for Charley Harper in his unique way of capturing animals through geometric forms, colors and textures to create an ecosystem. Atlas selected a few key ingredients from each treat to illustrate and frame the selected canine for each bag as a fun and playful composition.

Botanical Bones features three different designs for each treat. For Inner Glow which includes dandelion root, they thought a golden retriever jumping in the air to catch a dandelion was a no brainer. For Balance + Calm, Atlas illustrated a Border Collie for its breeds’ struggles with anxiety. Lastly for Immunity + Wellness, they wanted to feature a mixed, rescue dog surrounded by Reishi and blueberries that boost immunity and longevity.

It was important to Atlas and Botanical Bones to seek out compostable options for the fabrication of the flexible packaging materials and try to be as sustainable as possible without sacrificing the shelf life of the dog treats.
