Hasbro Releases Baby Yoda-Themed Monopoly Board For May the 4th

Disney+’s debut Star Wars series The Mandalorian boiled down and distilled all the essentials for a fan-favorite romp through the galaxy. There are blasters, of course, and a laconic solo gunslinger that lives strictly by his code. And since no Star Wars property is complete without a cute and sassy sidekick, the Jon Favreau-helmed streaming series delivers with a doe-eyed toddler which fans have come to call “Baby Yoda,” though officially known throughout the canon as “The Child.”

For 2020’s iteration of “Star Wars Day,” May the Fourth, Hasbro announced a slew of Star Wars-themed toys and games, including a special-edition, Mandolorian Monopoly board. Monopoly’s monocle-bearing mascot gets subbed out of the front of the box with Baby Yoda sitting in its floating carrier, nearly covering the entire front panel. The Child also dominates the center of the board, and all the elements of Monopoly get thematically reskinned to match The Mandalorian series. Instead of thimbles and terriers, player markers are Baby Yoda in various poses, while houses and hotels become shelters and hideouts.
