One of the ways to significantly reduce the environmental impact of products such as shampoo is to make it so it doesn’t actually require plastic packaging. Taking out water and turning hair care products into dry bars makes the product more compact and lightweight, reducing greenhouse gases and fuel consumption related to distribution. It also opens the opportunity to ditch plastic, as shampoo bars can get wrapped in paper (or with nothing at all).
L’Oreal’s Garnier brand has been working on such a shampoo bar since 2019, making sure that the more environmentally-friendly alternative performed as well as its liquid counterpart, and they’re finally ready to unveil their new Whole Blends shampoo bars. Available in 4 fragrances, Whole Blends bars are 97% biodegradable, plastic-free, and Garnier promises two months of usage per bar.
