Ron Carbón is All About the Magical Alchemy of Rum

Colombia-based Invade Design has crafted the brand identity for Ron Carbón, a Colombian rum noted for its fresh, woody notes. The hand-carved seal made from real charcoal adds a touch of authenticity, and who amongst us doesn’t enjoy the logo of a snake about to eat itself?

“We are pleased to present our latest brand identity and packaging design project.

The creation of this brand began in late 2021, but it is this year that Carbón finally comes to light. This white rum, produced entirely in Colombia, stands out for its fresh and woody notes, a result of aging in barrels previously used for bourbon. The name “Carbón” evokes the special process of barrel charring, which imparts distinctive flavor and aroma.

One of the most emblematic elements of the project is the brand icon: a snake forming a “C” as it bites its own tail, inspired by the ancient symbol of the Uroboro from alchemy, representing the eternal cycle and symbolizing the process of obtaining charcoal.

Throughout the design process, we collaborated closely with the client to define key aspects such as the bottle shape and color, allowing us to conceptualize and prototype with creative freedom. For the label, we have used embossed finishes and foil details, and as a final touch, a seal located at the top of the bottle made from real mineral charcoal hand-carved by artisans in Sogamoso, Boyacá, a mining region of the country.”
