Wine Names That Tell a Story: Southold Farm + Cellar’s Label Design

Published

Southold Farm + Cellar, a family-owned winery in Gillespie County, Texas, crafts wines that reflect their origin and time. Saturday Studio developed minimal, typography-driven labels with high-build varnish on textured stock to emphasize each wine’s unique name, such as “Love Amongst Wolves” and “Future for Miracles.” The branding exudes a stately yet unfussy feel, much like Southold’s natural wines.

Southold Farm + Cellar is a small family winery in Gillespie County, Texas. Their mission is to make wines that speak of place and time, and they enlisted us to create branding and packaging that complement this pursuit.

Minimal, typography-based labels with high build varnish on textured stock highlight the unique names of each variety. The branding itself feels impactful but unfussy, much like the natural wines created each season on the farm. Within the overall brand system, a sub-brand was created for the Southold wine club, The Ridge Society, whose members receive wine shipments and other perks including becoming part of the Southold family.
