Nostalgic Dads Will Flip for Chris Gonzales’ Vintage-Inspired Fishing Tackle Packaging

Published

This project was created as an assignment for a packaging design course. The guidelines required me to find an item in the Dollar Store and reimagine the packaging so that it would be sold in a higher-end store. As I browsed the aisles of the dollar store, I came across the outdoors section and immediately gravitated toward fishing lures. As a novice fisherman, I felt that I could create a much more interesting and exciting brand, built around the lures. I was given the freedom to create the name, Tackle Tech, along with the brand identity. I wanted to have this redesign feel approachable but still intriguing to the modern fisherman. This specific box is the “Rainbow Trout Edition”, which is stated on the front of the box and pulls the color from the trout as well. I included illustrations on the back and front of the box as well as information about the brand and what Tackle Tech is all about. The back panel features a call to action for Tackle Tech users to send in pictures on social media of your latest catches. Inside the box, you will see the seven included lures along with a description of each one. In the end, I was able to produce a fishing lure kit that elevates the fishing experience by letting the technology of Tackle Tech do the heavy lifting for you.
