DD.NYC’s Snake-Inspired Candle Design is a Goth Dream Come True

Candles are already goth as hell, but do you ever think they could stand to be more goth? While that could mean going the Romeo + Juliet route and grabbing as many as possible, the fire hazard makes that fairly inadvisable. A simpler route would be grabbing a super ornate, melodramatic design, like something you might see in a Catholic church or dungeon. But what if you’re overthinking it? What if it’s what in the candle that makes it goth?

DD.NYC took inspiration from long history of poison being inextricably connected to beauty and self-care in their stylish, high-drama concept for ANTIDOTE candles. Each scent takes inspiration from the deadly reptiles whose venom played pivotal roles in not only tragic stories like Antony and Cleopatra, but the “snake oil” that went into ancient beauty and health products.

ANTIDOTE’s elegant red-and-black design serves as a smart reminder that snake venom has been coveted as well as feared, with a stylish snake motif appearing throughout its packaging. A tiny serpent slithers on the label of each candle, only to become large enough to be obscured into a blur scales on the sides of the gorgeous red boxes.
