Magic Spoon and CENTER Design Packaging For The Brand’s Snack Bar Extension

Keto-friendly breakfast cereal brand Magic Spoon has expanded into a new category, bringing its take on traditional, high-sugar, high-calorie cereal treats to the snack aisles.

Unlike traditional cereal confections like Rice Krispie Treats, Magic Spoon Treats contain only 1g of sugar, 1-2 net carbohydrates, and 11 total grams of protein per serving. The new product is officially launching with two classic flavors—Marshmallow and Chocolatey Peanut Butter.

Packaging and branding design for the new Magic Spoon Treats was led by the brand’s creative director, Dhiya Choudary, whose team worked with Brooklyn-based brand and design company CENTER and feature illustrations by Juan Molinet. The treat boxes and wrappers feature delectable product photography, and the color palettes and other elements align well with the larger Magic Spoon brand world.

Working together, Magic Spoon and Center maintain a clear visual relationship between their core cereal boxes and the new packaging. Inspired by the structure and quirks of the existing Magic Spoon Logo, they created a custom Magic Spoon inspired typeface and logo “treats-ment.” And, because the cereal appears larger than life on their original packaging, they chose to make the treats themselves the hero of the new offering—positioning them larger than life and personifying them with a suite of cheeky expressions.

It makes sense for Magic Spoon to extend into childhood favorite cereal bars, going after these sweet snacks with a strategy similar to the brand’s first act. Magic Spoon Treats also opens new opportunities for fans to enjoy its keto-friendly food away from home, like at school or the office.

While the brand is now available nationally in retailers such as Target, Walmart, and Albertson’s, the new cereal treats are launching on Magic Spoon’s website in a 16-bar bundle containing both flavors.
