The Warm Design of Miyoko’s Non-Dairy Cheeses and Spreads Make Them Easy to Confuse for the Real Thing

Miyoko Creamery’s adds to the expanding world of non-dairy food options with their line of plant milk-based butters, cheeses, and more. It has a classically warm grocery store look that would make it easy to confuse for the dairy products it imitates, with old-fashioned, stripey packaging and an endearingly swirly serif wordmark.

After years of perfecting plant milk recipes, Miyoko’s brought a craft-quality to the alternative dairy market. As the brand grew and became more prevalent in the CPG environment, it lost the premium, handmade qualities that set the brand apart from competitors. Miyoko’s wanted to keep it’s crafted essence and earn a spot on the finest cheese boards. The goal wasn’t to replace traditional dairy but to be considered as a culinary alternative. We needed to instill a made-from-scratch, artisan appeal back to the brand. We looked at two categories in complete cultural opposition – traditional dairy and plant-based products. We pulled cues from both categories to elevate and refine the Miyoko’s portfolio, merging the best of both worlds and redefine craft quality.
