Ghetto Gastro Is Ready For Their Target Closeup

Ghetto Gasto isn’t just for curing gnawing hunger pains—it’s also a vehicle for storytelling.

Since 2012, the collective of chefs and foodies have understood that food is what truly unites us and that bringing the culinary traditions of Black, brown, and Asian folks is culturally significant and tells the story of their lived experiences and where they come from.

Now, the Gettos Gastro is officially launching in Target with an exclusive collection of breakfast offerings. The Target line will offer ice different products to kick off your day—three kinds of pancakes and waffle mix (including sweet potato), four varieties of toaster pastries (Strawberry, Chocolate Raspberry, PB&J, and Mapel Apple Cinnamon), and two different maple syrups (Spicy and Cider).

What’s more, they’re landing in the retail giant with a bold look emphasizing even bolder flavor. With an original identity system by New Studio and a design assist by Brooklyn brand and design company Center, Ghetto Gastro’s packaging looks more like a top-shelf high-end fashion magazine with a sticker price of $20—that makes sense, too, as the collective brings food, art, design, and hip-hop to many of their experiences and partnerships. Accompanied by Nayquan Shuler’s joyously delicious photography, the packaging leaps off the shelf with appetite-boosting images of waffles, strawberries, and sticky, glaze-y syrups.

Also, that Pop Tart wrapper does indeed slap.

The Ghetto Gastro breakfast line is available now in select Target locations. They can even all be obtained for under ten bucks.
