Skin Office partnered with Knoll to introduce their innovative 100% Knoll Ecoform molded pulp secondary packaging. This sustainable clamshell features a multi-cavity molded shape with dedicated sections for the serum, tool and brochure. They used Knoll’s recyclable pulp made from bamboo and bagasse fibers. The pulp structure of Knoll
Ecoform was carefully color-matched to achieve the desired hue, echoing the color of the algae complex in the product formula. This groundbreaking use sets a new standard for sustainable packaging in the skincare industry. The clamshell features a unique geometry & book-style shape with rounded edges, which required precision & expertise to ensure its structural integrity. Maintaining stability while using the molded pulp material was a significant technical challenge. Achieving the specific green-blue color for the packaging involved careful color matching and production techniques. Printing the copy on a natural surface was achieved with pad printing and required the creation of a smooth base to ensure legibility.
To align with their commitment to sustainability and aesthetics, Skin Office Paris chose Knoll Ecoform molded pulp, which offers environmental benefits and contributes to the minimalist and natural appeal. The product is plastic free, made of 100% Knoll Ecoform vegetable pulp, consisting of 60% FSC-certified fast-growing bamboo (sustainable biobased and renewable plant) and 40% bagasse fibers (agricultural by-product of sugar cane production), along with water. These materials are biodegradable and recyclable, ensuring that the packaging has minimal impact on the environment.
