Mucky Duck Uses Playful Characters and Bright Colors to Have More Fun Than Ever

Published

The sauce brand Mucky Duck got a super charismatic makeover, designed by Traction Brands, by adding a bunch of fun duck characters to their wide range of flavors. Charming illustrations put the ducks in a wide variety of costumes, like a classic aviator or chef look, while punchy colors distinguish each flavor. A blend of sans serif for the logo and classy serif keeps the rest of the details low-key.

Mucky Duck is a 40 year old brand with a long regional history. That, after being acquired by the former owner of Garden Fresh Salsa, was left to collect dust.

That is until, a member of the recipe’s original family sought to regain the rights to the brand and help take it to new and never-before-imagined heights.

While also having a damn good time.

Given their upcoming 40 year anniversary, and the fortuitous timing of the re-acquisition, the OG brand was desperately in need of a refresh, one that more closely aligned it to the new ownership, while also giving it the means to stake a unique claim on tired and predictable grocery shelves across the region (and the world!)

We kept tints of the original color palette, cleaned the mustard off the old duck mascot (looks a bit terrified in the OG packaging if you ask us) and gave the brand a whole new lease on life.

Complete with bold, impossible to miss typography, a refreshed duck mascot free to enjoy new pursuits, and a tone of voice as absurdly wholesome as the new ownership.
