Design agency SDCO recently worked with Charleston-based candle company Rewined to create a new visual identity and packaging system. The wine-inspired candles are beautifully set inside thick glass, creating a polished aesthetic. The outer packaging itself is minimal, a simple cardboard box with a white pattern splashed across it. This simplistic nature of the packaging leads to an unspoken sophistication, elevating the candles and their ambiance.
Rewined, the popular Charleston-based candle company, announces a pivotal brand refresh featuring a new visual identity and a fresh approach to its brand ethos. Coinciding with their 12th anniversary, the originator of the wine-inspired candles introduces a fresh, new personality driven by living in the moment and savoring life experiences, resulting in a product line that awakens, illuminates, inspires and activates the senses.
Entrepreneur Adam Fetsch dreamed up the idea for Rewined in 2009 when he was working as a manager at Triangle Bar & Grill in Charleston and saw how many wine bottles the restaurant went through daily. It sparked an idea to recycle the bottles in a unique way: by repurposing their base for wine-inspired scented candles. Over the last 12 years, the business has grown exponentially, hitting countless milestones including employing over 50 team members in Charleston and being oered at major retailers like Anthropologie and Belk.
“Our focus has always been on growth and thinking outside of the box,” says Fetsch. “This new iteration of Rewined reflects our next phase, focusing on designs and scents we hope will become household staples. Change has always been what excites us most at Rewined, and our passion for creating remarkable and unique products is what gets us out of bed each morning.”
With the help of local design firm Stitch Design Co., Rewined’s new identity focuses on the “Fragrant State of Mind,” leaning into the passions that launched the brand: food, wine, cocktails and travel. Food and beverage take center stage as the brand explores interesting people, places and moments in time by partnering with industry experts to share compelling stories and consult on unique scents.
Fetsch worked closely with Stitch to rework the brand’s primary personality traits, characteristics, logos, graphic elements and candle-packaging design. The reimagined Rewind packaging includes custom vessels for six fragrance collections, a new logo and typeset, and color palette. While the majority of the scents will remain the same, the brand has reformulated several fragrances to oer more complexity and sophistication, creating a more accurate representation of the wine, cocktails, and places that inspire the scent.
