While Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama has been around for ages, she didn’t really get her flowers before the past decade or so, when her Infinity Rooms became almost inescapably viral. The beloved polka dot enthusiast has been inspiring creatives around the world for years now, but her fairly sudden ubiquity has made it easy for tributes to feel a bit obvious, hamfisted, or flat.
This is definitely not the case for sparkling probiotic drink company wildwonder’s homage to the artist, whose polka dots make fairly subtle appearances throughout the brand’s system by Olio, Mafe Perez, and an in-house team. While the Kusama inspiration is apparent, it’s not obvious or gimmicky, and the can design has an appeal all its own. It has plenty of personality and feels fun without being showy, perfectly complimenting the colorful photography wildwonder uses to promote the beverages.
