A Designer Turned Recycled Paper Cranes from Hiroshima Into Artistic Sustainable Hand Towels

If you also like to have a good, long think in the bathroom while you wash your hands, the Hiroshima Dentetsu hand towel is a good internal conversation starter. These functional art pieces use recycled paper cranes donated from the site of the catastrophic 1945 to bombing to make a poignant, astounding statement.

Its look is sophisticated, but confrontational: a loud “650” takes over the design of one box, referencing the number of the bombed streetcar, while another box uses jagged serif typography and punched holes to evoke an eerie aerial view of the city.
