Boston General Store’s Old-Timey Matches Look Straight Out of a Smithsonian Exhibit

Matches aren’t just timeless and smart to have—it also kind of feels like they’re having a moment? It seems like every hip vintage boutique has a bowl full of them for sale, and there’s something about having a book from a rando midwestern motel or roadside restaurant that adds some fun to striking a match.

Boston General Store is leaning into the trend of old school packaging with an American Revolution-inspired design so on-point, you’d be forgiven for thinking you’d stumbled upon an especially well-maintained antique tchotchke. Peter Voth nailed the brain with ultra-intricate details printed in timeless navy, full of squiggly borders and scrolls, iconic floral details, a couple of different aulde-timey scripts, and plenty of Easter eggs for the American History buffs.
