The more packaging designs I look at, the more I realize I’m all-in when the design carries a powerful typographic impact. From both a consumer and analytical design standpoint, I love nothing more than a piece of packaging design with a sharp, decisive identity that runs on typography.
We’re not one to pat ourselves on the back, but as we slide further into 2024, we can see that our 2024 Trend Report had a few things right, including the “What’s Your Type?” trend. “As of late, more and more brands are leaning into removing food photography and buzzy graphics,” we wrote. “Now, the letters are doing all the talking. Just look at Go Human, Eau de Yellow Pages, Ordinary Soda, Roast Umber, Bits, Blum, Cervezas Salvajes, Bruichladdich, WHINE, and Ghost Town Oats.”
Utilizing a type-forward within a packaging design can lead to more memorable brand identities and create a verbally striking path to product recognition. So, in honor of our Trend Report, I’ve gathered a list of typefaces that will help create standout packaging designs, especially if you’re crafting a type-driven design.
