Sustainability is at the heart of Compostic’s packaging design. With a mission to help consumers seamlessly transition to a more sustainable lifestyle and be a part of a wider global movement towards a plastic-free lifestyle, Compostic has created a solution to remove single use plastics from the household with its proprietary zero-waste packaging and product line. The Cling Wrap’s packaging is free from any metal or plastic cutters which are typically found on plastic wraps. Instead, the product is pre-perforated for seamless (and sustainable) tearing. Compostic’s packaging has also incorporated sustainable soy-based inks for printing, and the boxing itself is both recyclable and compostable. For the design, Compostic kept the printing minimalistic to simplify the brand’s messaging and visibility, resulting in a more raw-focused craft. Compostic is advocating to reduce the use of single-use plastics and encouraging sustainable practices with a vision to make composting more commonplace in cities’ waste management systems and lifecycles.

Compostic’s packaging has received a number of sustainable certifications: The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification ensures that boxing comes from responsibly managed forests that provide environmental, social and economic benefits; the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) 6400 specification covering products designed to be composted in municipal and industrial aerobic composting facilities; DIN CERTCO EN 13421-2000 certification for packaging recoverable through composting and biodegradation; Australian Standard (AS) 5810-2010 certification verifying products made of compostable materials for home and garden composting; OK Compost INDUSTRIAL certified for composting in industrial facilities, and FSC Chain-of-Custody certification verifying that FSC-certified material is kept separated from non-certified material throughout the chain. Compostic’s packaging and products are also non-GMO, BPA-free, FDA-approved and passed worm farm toxicity testing to ensure they are worm farm friendly.

Compostic’s products have also received the following certifications: ASTM 6400, DIN CERTCO EN 13421-2000, AS 5810-2010 and OK Compost INDUSTRIAL. The Cling Wrap and Resealable Bags contribute to the greater sustainability cause by offering plastic-free storage for food and other necessities. The non-toxic products will break down in your compost at home or in a commercial facility in under 24 weeks (which is faster than an orange peel). The products function just as great, if not better, than their plastic counterparts. And when composted, the performance compostables decompose into a soil enhancer to create a truly circular economy.
