Our goal was to create a kid-tested solution with their comfort and style in mind while launching a portfolio of kids hearing protection that educates parents around noise damaging sounds. Many parents are unaware of the dangers of prolonged exposure to noise over 85 decibels (db) for children. Our research revealed insights that led us to focus on educating parents of the possible risks of permanent hearing damage while attending normal family outings like fireworks or concerts. Since this product lives in a saturated safety-centric category, we leaned into the opportunity to differentiate and shift focus to a kid-friendly experience.

Parents purchasing hearing protection are primarily researching online, including Amazon reviews. Therefore, we created robust content to help shop-ability and ensure purchase confidence, including educational information around safe zones of sound and what decibel levels are potentially harmful. The packaging is educational, fun and aids in decision-making, while highlighting comfort, durability, and kid-friendly design; also, a die-cut window to easily see the pattern, cushy headband, and ear pads. This holistic product and package solution is differentiated by colors and patterns that kids gravitate towards, are approachable, gender neutral, exciting to wear and build parent confidence.
