Mattel Mistakenly Prints Porn Site On Packaging for ‘Wicked’ Dolls

If you’re in the business of designing toy packaging, you really want to make sure your copy is correct and up to snuff. Otherwise, you might send young, impressionable minds to an adult website.

In the run-up to the film adaptation of the Tony Award-winning musical Wicked that’s set to release before the holiday tentpole season, Mattel has released special dolls featuring characters from the kinda/sorta Wizard of Oz prequel. Unfortunately, instead of sending folks to the movie’s official website, they sent them to a porn site with a very similar name.

“Mattel was made aware of a misprint on the packaging of the Mattel Wicked collection dolls, primarily sold in the US, which intended to direct consumers to the official WickedMovie.com landing page,” the toy brand said in a statement to CNN on Sunday. “We deeply regret this unfortunate error and are taking immediate action to remedy this. Parents are advised that the misprinted, incorrect website is not appropriate for children.”
