California Legislature Calls A Do-Over On Plastic Shopping Bag Ban

In 2014, California passed a bill banning single-use plastic bags.

Sort of.

SB-270 did ban single-use plastic bags, though it included many exceptions. Some businesses, like restaurants, were exempt. But, the biggest carve-out to the ban allowed merchants to offer thicker, reusable plastic bags intended for up to 125 uses.
