Pack of the Month: Freytag Anderson Says Up With Slave-Free Chocolate

If you want to show people that your product has zero downside, you could always make your packaging reversible. At least, that’s the central premise behind our 2024 Pack of the Month, UP-UP chocolate, designed by the Scotland-based agency Freytag Anderson.

UP-UP offers “great chocolate” with “no downside,” as the brand has gone out of its way to work with organizations like slavefreetradea group working to ensure that the products we use every day come from brands that aren’t trafficking in human rights abuses.

We spoke with creative director Danil Freytag about educating folks on the dark side of the chocolate industry and how they brought UP-UP to life.
