Interest in women’s sports, including basketball, has been on a “meteoric rise,” according to a recent report from media analyst Neilsen.
Viewership of collegiate and professional women’s basketball is no exception. According to Neilsen, nearly 10 million viewers tuned into the NCAA final basketball game between Iowa and LSU, and the most recent WNBA draft audience increased 43%.
But, until recently, basketball shoe brands like Nike and Adidas have done little to design footwear and apparel that caters to female athletes. Lady ballers tend to resort to wearing men’s shoes in smaller sizes. But, unsurprisingly, women’s feet are not the same but smaller than men’s. And when you’re taking the rock to the hole, you need footwear that looks good on the court, provides support, and prevents injuries.
