Retrospekt’s Artist-Designed Cameras Build on the Triumphant Return of Analog Photography

For a handful of years, analog has been having a moment, and one of the most exciting ongoing trends is an increased disinterest in relying exclusively on phones to take pictures. Disposable cameras and Polaroids have been back for a while, and it’s hard to imagine they’re going anywhere.

Thanks to this trend, the cameras themselves are getting cooler, and one great example is an artist series from Milwaukee analog refurbisher Retrospekt with the help of LA’s Closer&Closer Artists. Evan Weselmann’s contribution is a fun, colorful pair of cameras with an endearingly cartoony design that applies Max Fleischer surrealism to ‘90s nostalgia.
